Louis' story 13. "Re-visit to Temple St, Mr Stephens"

Louis had a re-visit with Mr Stephens yesterday (end April 2010). I had asked for a re-visit after having sought a second opinion in the UK. It was not a dramatic difference of opinions but I wanted to see if Mr Stephens wanted to put a cast on Louis left foot as it keeps slipping. I rather he has casts on now at 7 months than when he starts walking!

Manic busy in the waiting hall but we were finally seen by another consultant (can’t remember his name, young and professional) who was very good. He understood why I was asking for them to look at Louis foot again. If something had to be done it is best to do it now! But he was very happy with the foot and said in his opinion it will settle nicely. It is nice and soft and he showed me how to “bend it” to see that it is supple. Mr Stephens also popped his head in and he was also happy with the foot. So they showed me what signs to look out for if the foot is “tightening up”. That was great as I now know what to look for! Anna popped in too and said she will order a special bar that moves between the boots (can’t remember name – will blog when we get it) and that sometimes helps with feet slipping. Otherwise they told me that the boots should be on quite hard and as long as the blood supply is not cut off it can be strapped very tight.

So I am happy now again! I feel we were seen properly by Temple St and they spent time with Louis and really assured me all is Ok for now. I made a happy call to my husband and family to let them know that we can stop the daily stressing about Louis’ left foot and just get on with things for now! I also let them know that I had felt Louis’ 1st tooth in the waiting room!!!
