Talipes Together | Club Foot Support Network
Hi,
Our baby who we know has bilateral talipes is due to meet us and the world in less than four weeks now and I've just thought about something...
This may seem a silly question, but logistically, how do you swaddle a baby with leg casts? Do you only swaddle baby's arms, or can you comfortably swaddle legs as well?
I'd love to her what you did in those early months re. swaddling, as there are many types of lovely swaddle wraps available and I need to purchase some very soon!
Cheers,
Carey Lord.

I personally did not swaddle my boy Louis, so I am perhaps not the best person to rely to your query... But I don;t think you should have any problems with swaddling baby with casts. The only thing you might consider is that the blanket is big enough as there will be a bit of extra bulk around the legs. Best of luck and do let us know how you get on!

I swaddled my little girl Aoibheann up to about 6 weeks & I used a grobag swadle or any of the cellular blankets. I did discuss it with the team in Our Lays Hospital in Crumlin & was told just make sure that the swadle is not too restrictive but sure I would have never swadled too tight anyway.
Good luck with it all x x x

That makes sense. Some of them have zips and I think these might be too restrictive, so I'll just use jersey stretch swaddles I think, easier to adjust.
