Hi everyone,

Our lil dude graced us with his presence in January 2012, on Friday 13th. He was born with bilateral talipes and it was a massive shock to us, as we paid private for an anomoly scan at 28 weeks and it wasn't picked up!!! The reason we had to go private, was that I had my scan at 11 weeks in Drogheda, and was not given any other scan. . . .at all!!

anyway, at 10days old (quite late), Oscar attended the orthopaedic consultant in drogheda. He wasnt available to change the casts weekly so referred us to the Ponsetti clinic in Crumlin. I rang 2 days later to check for an appointment, but they informed us they had not received any referral. After several calls over several days, and still no letter, I faxed up the copy of the letter that I had received.

The consultant decided that as we are from Drogheda, we are not in the Crumlin catchment area, and was referred to Temple St. Silly me, I assumed she had sent the letter straight to Temple St, but after more days passing and more calls to Temple St and still no referral, I learned that the letter had to be sent back to drogheda, to be re-referred to Temple St. Two weeks had almost past, and a very upset mammy was becoming inconsolable.

I rang direct to the plaster room in Temple St yesterday and was invited to attend the out-patients that afternoon. Elated, we did the short trip and within an hour, Oscar had been seen by the consultant and both casts were on!!!!

We had a bit of a tough time last night, he seems frustrated and yelps when he tries to move his legs!! However, we are so happy that the the treatment has started, and if the next few weeks go as quick as the last three weeks, he'll be on the right road in no time!!!

Boo to the bureaucracy that had us waiting 3 weeks too long to begin Oscars treatment, but massive praise for the staff in Temple St who made our first experience with casting a positive one.

Hi and welcome to Talipes Together Karen! Well done on finally getting the casts on! What a rigmarole.... You must be thrilled now that you are on the way, and yes, the guys in the Temple St plaster room are great. Best of luck over the next few weeks and let us know how things develop.

Hi Karen

I has a similar experience with cavan general , our referral was sent to the mortuary instead of Temple street, very distressing for parents, Glad Oscar has began treatment,

Best wishes
