Permalink Reply by Mia Barry on January 18, 2012 at 12:30 Yep - most treatment starts within the 1st week of baby being born. Louis was 6 days old :)

If that is the case you should insist on seeing a specialist immediatly as your baby will benefit from starting treatment early. Even if it is not severe, your baby may need physiotherapy, and the specialist should give you all the information. "Proper" talipes will not repair itself, or get better.
Ponseti is by far the most widely used treatment across the world, and it has 99% success rate if followed correctly. It is very efficient and it involves no major surgery, which often leads to pain in later years. I can't sing its praises high enough! Before my son was born I wished there was a quick surgery fix and that would be that - but that is not the case. Ponseti does take a few years, but it is not invasive and it enables the bones and muscles in the foot to align themselves so the person can last a lifetime on their feet - amazing really! Once your baby is born you just take one day at a time and it will fly by!

Permalink Reply by Sarah on January 19, 2012 at 0:49 Yes she got into them on Jan 11th, so shes been in them for a week now. The first few days she was a little fussy, but now she is just fine and doesn't seem to mind them now. I am surprised at how well the treatment is working. H's heel has dropped and everything! She is "progressing nicely" as the doctor says!
